  1. Hi, just wondering what assistance I’m eligible for. I have recently lost my job. I have applied for newstart but was told will not receive anything for at least 2 weeks. I have a mortgage and car repayments overdue and due weekly, utility bills over $600 due ASAP, and no income coming in. What assistance could I apply for?

    1. Person 2 person also knowen as p2p. Interest free loans. Not sure of the amount but worth googling.

  2. hello i am a 20 year old male that receives youth allowance and needs a cash loan of $500-$1000 to help me to buy a cheap car & to recover personal items can anyone help me???

  3. Hi, I am just wondering, is there any reason that a 24 year old man living with his parents cannot receive new start payments? I am trying to find out for a friend who lives in mount Gambier who has gone to centrelink several times, but claims that they can only give him a payment of $20-something a fortnight because it has something to do with how much his parents earn, so he doesn’t bother accepting it because that would just go straight to his parents. He is obviously trying to find work, but in the mean time, he could use the money. If you could shed some light on the situation, that would be most helpful.

    Thank you for your time.

    1. Hi Lorren
That does not sound right. At 24 your are an adult so parental income is not taken into account. You can see for yourself on the Human Services website. Something is amiss if that is what you are being told. if you want to help go in with the person but dont give them money if that is what they are asking for.
